Perhaps one of the agenda of those political rallies is to get you thinking. It is one of those days again... of absolute nothing to do, so I have got tons of time to wander through the newspaper sites that detail the political upheavals these days, one calling another liar and having those fingers retaliated in return. It is much better than the those soppy taiwanese serials i assure you.
Suddenly while reading sites, I was bombarded with flashbacks of what I saw when I was in Bangkok/Pattaya for holidays some 4 years ago. I see little girls no older than 10 years old, dangling from the arm of caucasians many times older, probably old enough to be her grandfather. It was a common sight.
Pubs are alit with pink flourescent lights, clearly indicating that they are sleaze pubs. Along the Pattaya night market, teenage girls showcase their wares in slimpy t-backs and bikinis to the noise of trance blaring somewhere.
Then I look at our girls here. Some clearly underage girls dressing skimpily in the latest fashion get ups, prancing along Orchard Road, or loitering in Shopping Malls - dont they have better things to do?
Do they not have to study for their examination since it is the examination period now?
Do they not have a family to go to?
Do they not know that by dressing skimpily, it degrades them?
Yes it does. And while the girls in Thailand have got no choice but to parade in most minimal of clothing because their livelihood depends on it. Our girls here have the money to get the latest fashion accessories and yet they also wish to parade their wares. Girls from two vastly different countries yet, their behaviour is so similar.
Such teasing display of the flesh, it is no wonder the young are experimenting with sex at a young age.
Then there are those people who sell pornographic materials out in the open and the parents of these kids who watched these materials and in turn the kids have access to it and they start to mimic what they see.
That in turn results in aggravated abortion statistics, unwed mothers statistics upped the scales too.
And is sex education really necessary in schools? No doubt it is necessary to educate the kids when there are such available materials accessible at home but I dont think it is necessary to start them this young.
And the victims are always the women who let themselves be the victims!
I despise those who allow themselves to be victims of this vicious cycle.
I detest the parents who weren't around to explain about the intricacies of growing up and how to deal with sexuality.
I despise those who openly make available their illegal tapes to the young and leading them to experiment, the most.
