1 word to describe the olympic games opening ceremony - WOW!I guess all those who were there were awed by the fabulous display of Chinese Culture.. put together in such a beautiful musical cinematography with the mass display of Chinese solidarity when times called for it.
It has blown me away.
I have never felt so proud about my chinese roots nor that about chinese culture although we do have a long history of it.
I shunned to have anyting to do with Chinese Chinese.
They are seemingly uncouth, loud, dirty, mercenary, mean and cunning.
I had wanted to blog about the ceromony right immediately watching but the March past did me in... i snoozed and felt into slumber before the olympic flag was brought into the stadium. Luckily for me, I was awake early and caught the re-run and watched how the olympic fire was brought into the stadium.
I was so amazed and i think my limited vocabulary is going to fail me if I am asked to write about the entire procession because you ahve to watch it in order to know what I am talking about.
The chinese people have finally shown the world what they could be capable of. Even the commentaries were speechless for most part of the ceremony because like me i am sure, they were also shocked that such careful considerations have been woven into the intricacies of the opening ceremony.
I felt as if i was part of the Chinese history, having been brought through spectacular displays of the chinese arts and craft, paper making, chinese painting, opera, chinese orchestra, traditional dances, various tribes, puppet performance and Chinese mythology.
I felt proud not because I play a part in making the ceremony so good.. because you know as well as I did that I dint. But I felt proud because this once, we Chinese did the opening ceremony so differently from the other countries and made it such a grand display of hospitality and we supercede expectations of many.
Perhaps those countries who had wanted to boycott the olympic cermony ought to be ashamed of themselves, how they had wanted to bully China into doing something just because they are host of the games this year.
and truthfully, had they really boycotted the ceremony, they are the only one who have lost. For they had missed out the chance to witness the grandeur and the magnificience of the Games opening.
Thank you China, for having put up such a awe-inspiring performance and I do hope that this will be continued for years to come.
